The singer was disturbed by the turmoil in her family, and by the frequent disputes among her parents. She decided to immerse herself into music. They formed a group as a teenager and was able to have perform with producer Evan Rodgers who was highly impressed by the teenager's talents. She was then moved from the city of her birth to New York to start a profession as a full-time singer. Rihanna made her first album and was an instant hit.
