Golf is not like other ball games. It does not have a standard playing area. This makes it difficult for players to adjust to the varied types of terrains that are found on every course. A course usually has 18 to 9 holes. These are the areas of land with cups that mark which hole is that the ball will land. Each hole is equipped with a teeing ground to start from and a putting space with the cup. There are many standard forms of terrain between the tee area and the green, like the fairway rough (tall grass) and a variety of hazards, such as water, rocks, or bunkers filled with sand. Each hole is distinctive and is designed in a unique way. The stroke play format is the most commonly used form of play at all levels, and especially at the elite level.
